The Traditional Chinese Medicine Law of the People’s Republic of China was enacted on December 25^th, 2016 and will come into force on July 1^st, 2017. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Law is a milestone in China’s legal development that provides comprehensive protection for traditional Chinese medicine. The law covers medical services; the protection and development of Chinese medicine, the education of professional talent; scientific research; heritage and cultural transmission and protection; supporting measures, and legal obligations. The new law clearly details the establishment and improvement of the regulatory system governing traditional Chinese medicine, IPR protection, non-governmental operation of medical institutions and full supply chain quality control of medical materials.
