Five Authorities Clarify Matters Concerning Adjustment of the Security Management of Specialized Cybersecurity Products
On April 17, five authorities including the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) jointly issued the Announcement on Matters Concerning Adjustment of the Security Management of Specialized Cybersecurity Products (the "Announcement").
The Announcement states that, starting from July 1, 2023, the sale or provision of specialized cybersecurity products listed in the Catalog of Key Network Equipment and Specialized Cybersecurity Products will require certification by qualified institutions or passing the security testing in accordance with mandatory requirements specified in national standards such as the Information Security Technology—Security Technical Requirements of Specialized Cybersecurity Products. The Announcement also notes that, the issuance of the Sales License for Specialized Security Products for Computer Information Systems will be discontinued from July 1, 2023, and relevant producers will not be required to apply for the license. However, previously licensed products can continue to be sold or provided within the validity period of licenses.
