On April 24, 2014, Watson & Band Partner Gehui Gao was invited by the Intellectual Property Department of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Shanghai Office to provide legal training at the Garden Hotel for JETRO’s Shanghai IPG members. The theme of the lecture was “Amendment of the Trademark Law and Countermeasures against Preemptive Trademark Registration”.

Since the amended Trademark Law will come into force on May 1, the lecture focused on the new amendments. Miss. Gao analyzed preemptive registration issues that are of concern to Japanese enterprises and simply but deeply presented the fundamentals of countermeasures and evidence collection that are pertinent to the amendments and related cases. 

The JETRO Shanghai IPG members that were present highly praised the event.
