Professor Qiang Han Lectures at WB on General Provisions of P.R.C. Civil Law
Mr. Qiang Han, Professor, Master Supervisor and Doctor of Law from the East China University of Political Science and Law (“ECUPL”) recently visited Watson & Band and delivered a lecture on the General Provisions of P.R.C. Civil Law (the “General Provisions”). The lecture was divided into two sessions so that the audience could fully understand the spirit and reasoning behind the General Provisions. The lecture attracted an audience of over 40 attorneys and client representatives.

Professor Han first introduced the legislative process of the General Provisions, the background and circumstances relevant to its formulation and the underlying reasoning and structural considerations involved. He relied on summary of the primary features of the General Provisions such as authority, fundamentality, comprehensiveness, stability, innovation, nationality and internationalism to elaborate on the overall significance of the General Provisions.

Professor Han then explained the principles of the General Provisions; compared the chapters, articles and clauses of the General Principles of the Civil Law with the General Provisions, and elaborated on the main revisions and highlights as they relate to civil subjects, civil rights, civil acts and civil liability.
The lecture covered a broad subject matter and thoroughly elucidated important points, thereby providing the audience with deep understanding and inspiration concerning the General Provisions.
