W&B Hosts May China Law Salon: “Influence of the New Trademark Law on Enterprise Trademark Management”
At 2:00 p.m. on May 29th, 2015, W&B hosted the May China Law Salon, entitled “Influence of the New Trademark Law on Enterprise Trademark Management”, on the 17th Floor of the Wenxin United Press Tower. Representatives from well-known domestic and foreign companies and their China subsidiaries attended the Salon, where they discussed this hot-button trademark law topic with W&B attorney Liming Zhang.
After brief opening remarks by W&B partner Jean Yang, attorney Liming Zhang first provided a brief summary of issues arising under the new Trademark Law such as trademark management, enforcement, formulation, and the granting of rights. Based on the Trademark Law and its implementing regulations along with specific case examples and trademark practices, he then elaborated on issues of great concern for the industry including whether trademark applications will become more convenient, whether malicious cyber-squatting can be more effectively regulated, whether trademark administrative and judicial protection will become more robust in the future, changes in trademark management policies, etc.
It has been nearly a year since the new Trademark Law came into implementation, and hot-button issues of great concern from various fields have gradually shifted to more specific and detailed practical matters. At the May China Law Salon, W&B analyzed and forecast new trends in enterprise trademark management for clients using a summary of past cases and a systematic analysis of relevant legal provisions. W&B also provided legal advice that is useful for the enforcement of clients’ legitimate rights and interests.
