W&B Partners with JETRO to Host Seminar on “Risk Prevention and the Design of Corporate Reward Systems for Service Inventions”
On November 17th, 2016, the third session of the 2016 Seminar on IP Issues for Chinese Employees of Japanese Enterprises was held. This session focused on risk prevention and the design of a corporate reward system for service inventions. It took place in Meeting Room No.3 on the 3rd floor of the Shanghai International Trade Center.

The lecture was co-hosted by W&B Law Offices and JETRO Shanghai. Huang Jianguo, W&B Partner and Director of the Patent Litigation Department, spoke to an audience composed of 30 Chinese employees of major Japanese corporations.
The lecture focused on litigation practice in disputes over service invention reward and remuneration systems in order to illuminate the selection and design of individualized service invention reward and remuneration systems that are based on the specific conditions of a corporation. Mr. Huang also expanded on how to avoid potential disputes and legal risk over service invention reward and remuneration systems, and he analyzed and discussed some difficult legal questions using typical cases as illustrations.

Mr. Huang commenced his practice of law in 2001. Since then he has accumulated rich experience in patent litigation, including unique insights into overall design and risk prevention in corporate service invention remuneration systems. Mr. Huang started his lecture with a brief introduction to the current state of affairs with respect to service invention reward and remuneration systems, and he analyzed the latest legislative trends in this rea. He then related his practical experiences in a discussion of risks and disputes that arise in the daily corporate management of service invention reward and remuneration systems. He concluded his lecture by offering suggestions on the design of management systems for service invention rewards and remuneration.

During the lecture and the Q&A period corporate representatives actively communicated with Mr. Huang on complex issues relating to corporate reward and remuneration systems for service inventions that commonly arise during day-to-day corporate management. The participants’ enthusiastic response to the presentation ended up prolonging the session for about half an hour.
