On April 19 and 20, the 2019 Shanghai Pujiang Intellectual Property International Forum (the “Pujiang Forum”) during the 7^th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (the “CSITF”) was grandly held in the First Conference Room of Shanghai World EXPO Exhibition and Convention Center (the “Shanghai EXPO Center”) and the Kangqiao Advanced Manufacturing Technology Innovation Park in Zhangjiang High-tech Park.

On April 19, the first session of Pujiang Forum, held in the First Conference Room of Shanghai EXPO Center, centered on the theme “Strengthen Intellectual Property Creation, Protection and Utilization – Promoting Innovation-Driven Development”. In-depths discussions were conducted upon the theme.

President of China Intellectual Property Society, President of China Office of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (the “AIPPI”), Former President and CPC Committee Secretary of State Intellectual Property Office, Mr. Lipu Tian, President of Shanghai Association of Science and Technology, President of Shanghai Association of Experts with Outstanding Contributions, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ms. Saijan Chen, Director of Development and Research Center of Chinese National Intellectual Property Administration, Mr. Xiucheng Han, Secretary General of AIPPI China Office of International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, Mr. Yi Li, and Deputy Directory of Shanghai Small and Medium Enterprise Development Service Center, Mr. Yueming Gu, among other leaders, attended the Forum and delivered their opening speeches. The Forum was hosted by CSIFT Technology Trade Expert and Former President of Shanghai Intellectual Property Office, Mr. Yongqing Hong.

The opening ceremony was followed by keynote speeches and panel discussions. The panel discussions were themed on “Strengthen Intellectual Property Creation, Protection and Utilization – Promoting Innovation-Driven Development and Building World-Class Business Environment”. The panel members centered on the topic and had multi-perspective and multi-layer discussions, triggering sparks of thinking.

On April 20, the second session of Pujiang Forum, also serving as the Opening Ceremony for the Shanghai Office of the Council for Promoting South-South Cooperation (the “CPSSC”) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was held in the Kangqiao Advanced Manufacturing Technology Innovation Park in Zhangjiang High-tech  Park.

President of the CPSSC, Former Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (the “CPPCC”), Former CPPCC Press Spokesman and Former Deputy President of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Xinhua Lv, Member of CPPCC Standing Committee, Vice Chaiman of Central Committee of Minjian Party, Vice President of Shanghai Municipal CPPCC, President of Shanghai Institute of Socialism, Mr. Hanmin Zhou, among other municipal and district-level leaders, along with 43 Consul Generals in Shanghai from the Belt and Road countries, attended the Pujiang Forum and witnessed the opening of the CPSSC Shanghai Office.

The honored guests then had a panel discussion about how domestic companies can successfully step out ofChinaand to the world. The panel discussion was hosted by President of Intellectual Property School and Director of Intellectual Property Research Center of East China University of Political Science and Law, Mr. Wushuang Huang. Watson & Band’s Managing Partner, Ms. Jun Yang, Managing Partner of Shanghai Beshining Law Office, Mr. Qi Xue, Senior Prosecutor of Shanghai People’s Procuratorate, Mr. Jianfeng Yang, and President of Intellectual Property School of Shanghai University, Mr. Chunming Xu, respectively expressed their opinions.
