Ms. Yu Yang is a distinguished partner at Watson & Band, bringing a wealth of experience from her judicial career and corporate legal background. Her expertise in intellectual property law, coupled with her strong analytical skills and profound legal knowledge, makes her an invaluable asset to clients navigating complex IP issues.

Ms. Yang completed her Bachelor of Engineering at Tsinghua University's Department of Precision Instruments and Mechanics, and then pursued a Master's degree in Civil and Commercial Law under the mentorship of Professor Jianyuan Cui, a prominent civil and commercial law scholar, at Tsinghua University Law School. She began her legal career as a clerk at the Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People's Court, quickly rising to become an Assistant Judge in 2002 and a Judge in 2007. Ms. Yang also held significant positions such as Assistant to the Presiding Judge and later as Chief Judge before her promotion to the Shanghai High People's Court in 2008.

During her tenure in the judiciary, Ms. Yang adjudicated a considerable number of trial and appellate cases, particularly focusing on intellectual property rights. These cases often involved new types of rights and great complexity, and five of her cases were selected for publication in the Supreme People's Court legal gazette. Her expertise is not limited to IP rights; she is also experienced in handling commercial cases involving foreign elements and the retrial of civil cases. Throughout her judicial career, Ms. Yang has actively participated in various exchange programs, which included extensive communication with foreign judges, domestic government officials, and representatives from enterprises. She has also contributed to projects like "Shanghai Judges in the United States" and "French Language Training for Civil Servants", and delivered lectures for events hosted by the New York Bar Association and the International Bar Association.

In 2012, Ms. Yang transitioned into the legal technology sector as the Vice General Manager of a leading legal tech company.. In this role, she assisted with executive decision-making and operations, and was primarily responsible for overseeing legal product R&D, formulating strategic cooperation plans, determining the company's IP strategy, addressing various law-related matters, hosting legal training, communicating with clients, handling bidding projects, etc. She was instrumental in developing and launching legal products such as Corpus Legal China, Case Report, Judicial Empirical Analysis, and an AI Clerk System. These products focus on the in-depth application of electronic dossiers based on AI explorations in the legal field.

Ms. Yang is known for her profound legal knowledge base, strong analytical capabilities, and clear and powerful logical thinking. WIth her extensive experience in the court system and her thorough understanding of P.R.C. law, particularly in IP rights and civil/commercial contracts, she excels in judicial analysis and the application of law in both trial and appellate proceedings. Her experience in corporate operations further enhances her ability to analyze and resolve legal issues from a corporate perspective.
